Registered Nurse (RN)
Laguna Beach Community Clinic is dedicated to providing high-quality, accessible care to all-regardless of ability to pay. We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our care team.
The Registered Nurse works in the Laguna Beach Community Clinic (LBCC) primary care clinic assisting medical providers with patient care. The Registered Nurse is responsible for planning the workday and managing staffing requirements to adequately meet patient scheduling and workflow. The Registered Nurse oversees and assists Medical Assistants in the performance of their duties assisting medical providers with patient care and acts as a resource for questions or issues regarding patient care and LBCC policies and procedures. The Registered Nurse is knowledgeable in all third party and grant documentation requirements for patient care, as well as care and documentation requirements for patient programs in which LBCC participates. The Registered Nurse ensures all appropriate patient information is entered into the medical record.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Complete an orientation program that includes: the mission of the Clinic, its policies and procedures, and the organizational structure.
- Plan each day's work within the context of the type of clinic services scheduled for the day and the number of clients with appointments and the available staff.
- Discuss concerns or issues about the staff, equipment, or supplies with the Clinic Director on a daily basis.
- Facilitate orderly and timely flow of patients through the clinic by assuring an adequate inventory level of needed pharmaceuticals and supplies, organizing staff, greeting and directing clients, and reviewing client records for completeness both prior to and after provider visit.
- Provide advice, guidance, and support for the client with respect to their understanding of the outcome of the visit, including prescribed activities or medications, referral to another provider or public health nurse, and the need for a return visit.
- Demonstrate knowledge and implementation of the nursing process when working with clients.
- Document client information in the patient's medical record according to LBCC Practice Guidelines and policies and procedures.
- Dispense medications from the clinic pharmacy, adhering to all approved protocols.
- Manage clinic operations in the absence of the Clinic Director.
- Maintain professional knowledge and skills, as well as develop new areas of expertise through attending professional meetings and continuing education activities.
- Initiate and follow up on all referrals, including CHDP, Ryan White, and CalOptima. Obtain consults.
- Assist the Nurse Practitioner with follow-ups and recalls of mammograms and pap smears.
- Direct the triage of walk-in patients and phone advice as needed.
- If a participant in the Early Intervention Program, provide assessment, treatment, follow-up, and/or referrals for regularly scheduled and walk-in clients according to the LBCC Medical Practice Guidelines and protocols for HIV-infected clients. Seek consultation for individual client assessments and intervention from the Chief Medical Officer.
Qualifications:
- Ability to organize work environment and supervise the work of Medical Assistants and Volunteers to successfully carry out the responsibilities of this role.
- Ability to recognize the significance of diversity in cultural values and health beliefs.
- Ability to consistently work with other members of the care team in providing patient care and treatment.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Two years' experience in a primary care clinic or other healthcare setting performing related job duties. Supervisory experience preferred.
- Active and current California Registered Nurse licensure.

Salary Range
$44.00-$46.00 per hour based on experience
