Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Educational Center is seeking licensed nurses to join our team for the 2026 Summer Camp season! The Camp Nurse serves as a vital member of the Camp Healthcare Team, and oversees all health care operations for approximately 120 residential campers each week. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with youth of all ages, have the ability to work in unpredictable outdoor conditions, and thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment outside of the clinical setting. Due to the on-call nature of this position, applicants must be able to reside on-site (housing provided) or within a half-hour commute of camp for the duration of the summer season. Primary Responsibilities:
- Ability to follow all health care policies/procedures as described in facility standing orders, treatment procedures, and Staff Manual
- On call to respond to medical emergencies at all times campers are on-site, including overnight
- Perform basic assessment and first aid for conditions including but not limited to: minor soft tissue and musculoskeletal injuries, insect bites/stings, dehydration, sunburns, general illness; providing follow-up checks as needed
- Facilitate proper medication administration, for both routine prescription and over the counter medications, during all administration periods throughout the day
- Maintain written medical records for all medications and treatments administered according to state and American Camp Association Standards
- Prepare and record insurance and accident report forms
- Oversee Sunday check-in and Friday check-out of all camper medications each week, discussing any medical concerns with parent/guardian as needed
- Review all camper health forms and communicate medical needs to counselors as necessary
- Manage a team of 1-2 Health Care Coordinators who may assist with primary and secondary responsibilities
Pay starting at $900/week (housing and meals included) for residential full-time, or option for commuting part-time ($28-$35/hour).
Requirements
Currently licensed to practice as a LPN, RN, or APRN within the state of NC. Must have a valid Driver's license.
