Description
The Director of Nursing is the administrator of the Nursing program and reports to the Dean for Health Professions and Public Service. This position directly supervises the full-time and part-time faculty and the Nursing lab specialists and oversees accreditation and program requirements.
- Administration, development and supervision of the Nursing program.
- Supervision and evaluation of assigned full-time faculty.
- Recruitment, hiring, supervision and evaluation of part-time Nursing faculty.
- Completion of didactic, laboratory, and clinical assignments for Nursing faculty.
- Supervision of work assignments for part-time Nursing lab specialists.
- Supervision of work assignments for full-time Simulation Lab Specialist.
- Manage budgets and capital acquisitions.
- Leadership of program approvals and accreditation and licensure processes.
- Oversee procurement and evaluation of clinical sites for the Nursing program.
- Develop and support initiatives that support and positively impact programmatic growth and branding for the Nursing program.
In cooperation with faculty, pursue appropriate grant funding opportunities. - Oversee curriculum, student progress and student performance issues.
- Manage maintenance of clinical affiliation agreements; ensure faculty and student compliance with placement requirements.
- Evaluation of programs, goals and outcomes. Includes annual reports to regulatory and accrediting agencies, assistance with accreditation self-study document preparation and site visits.
- Promotion of department efficiency and effectiveness of operations and resource utilization, in cooperation with the division dean.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Nursing required.
- Current active license as Registered Nurse in Illinois or license-eligible required.
- Two years in Nursing clinical practice required.
- Three years of experience as a Nurse educator.
- Three years demonstrated leadership with increasing responsibilities and supervisory experience required.
- Three years of experience as a Nurse educator in higher education preferred.
- Previous experience as program director/coordinator/chair preferred, including: knowledge or experience with a nursing program accreditation process (ACEN preferred); knowledge or experience with self-study preparation; ability to guide faculty through accreditation process.
