The Opportunity
The Chief Nursing Officer provides executive leadership, strategic vision, and operational oversight for all nursing services at PIH Health Whittier Hospital. Reporting directly to executive leadership, the CNO plays a critical role in advancing clinical transformation, strengthening workforce engagement, and ensuring exceptional patient outcomes across the continuum of care.
What You Will Lead
Transformational Nursing Strategy
Design and implement innovative care delivery and nursing organizational models that enhance outcomes, workforce sustainability, and hospital performance.
Lead hospital-wide clinical transformation initiatives including technology integration, workflow redesign, and best practice adoption.
Drive nursing alignment with system growth priorities including service line expansion, population health, ambulatory strategy, and virtual care innovation.
Clinical Quality, Safety & Patient Experience
Champion high-reliability care delivery and continuous quality improvement.
Achieve and sustain clinical outcomes exceeding national benchmarks.
Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and patient- and family-centered care.
Executive Leadership & Collaboration
Serve as a key member of the hospital executive leadership team influencing strategic planning and organizational performance.
Strengthen nurse-physician collaboration and interdisciplinary partnerships.
Represent nursing priorities at executive and board levels.
Operational & Financial Stewardship
Provide executive oversight of nursing operations, budgets, staffing models, and resource allocation.
Optimize labor productivity, workforce planning, and cost management while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
Workforce & Professional Practice Excellence
Build and sustain shared governance and professional practice frameworks that empower nursing teams.
Advance evidence-based practice, leadership development, and workforce engagement initiatives.
Create an environment where nurses thrive professionally and deliver their best patient care.
Requirements
Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and forward-thinking nursing executive who combines clinical credibility with strategic business acumen and a passion for leadership development.
Required Qualifications
Current California RN License
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Minimum eight (8) years acute care nursing experience
Minimum five (5) years progressive nursing leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or Business Administration
Demonstrated success leading large, complex hospital nursing operations
Experience driving transformational change and clinical innovation
