Description
Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to evaluate, diagnose, treat, and/or prescribe health care and treatment for University of Oregon students within primary care clinics, independently and in collaboration with other Health Services providers. This position reports to the Medical Director and works in close collaboration with the lead physician in the Primary Care Clinics.
Work Schedule:
This position works during the academic year. Employment of academic year employees may be extended into the breaks and/or summer term to meet the departmental and/or operational needs of UHS.
This position may be required to work an occasional weekend or extended hour shift, should those become necessary to support operational needs.
This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check and routine screening of Medicaid and Medicare Exclusion Lists. Employee loses eligibility for employment if on the List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) and/or System of Award Management (SAM). In addition, employee must follow Compliance with UHS policies regarding tuberculosis screening, measles and mumps (MMR), seasonal flu, hepatitis B, and other immunization requirements.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
Nurse Practitioners: Current Oregon license as a Registered Nurse AND possession of a valid certification as a Nurse Practitioner issued by the Oregon State Board of Nursing; or ability to obtain both by the agreed upon start date of employment.
Physician Associate/Assistant: Possession of a valid Oregon license as a Physician Associate/Assistant AND successful completion of the national certification exam; or ability to obtain both by the agreed upon start date of employment.
Professional Competencies
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, in support of an inclusive and welcoming environment.
Experience with and/or ability to work effectively within a primary care clinic to support continuity care as well as acute care needs, with a strong emphasis on mental health, reproductive health, and infectious disease.
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
Commitment to lifelong learning and continuous quality improvement.
Proficiency with common primary care procedures, including laceration repair, wound care, incision and drainage of abscesses, splinting.
Preferred Qualifications
Nurse Practitioners: Current Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner Board Certification through the ANCC, AANP, or equivalent organization, or ability to obtain the certification by the agreed upon start date of employment
Physician Assistants: At least 2000 hours of clinical work experience
Current Drug Enforcement Administration license for prescription of controlled substances, or ability to obtain the license by the agreed upon start date of employment.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR Certification, or ability to have the certification by the agreed upon start date of employment.
