Assistant Executive Director (This position is a succession into the Executive Director position)
Essential Job Functions and Resposibilities
Operational Leadership
- Assist the Executive Director in the oversight and coordination of all community operations.
- Support department leaders in achieving operational, financial, clinical, and customer service goals.
- Ensure continuity of services and smooth daily operations across all levels of care.
- Participate in strategic planning, operational improvements, and organizational development initiatives.
- Act on behalf of the Executive Director in their absence.
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations applicable to senior living, healthcare, and long-term care operations.
- Assist with survey preparedness, audits, life safety compliance, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance initiatives.
- Support implementation and monitoring of policies, procedures, and risk management practices.
- Participate in incident review, corrective action planning, and compliance monitoring activities.
Financial & Administrative Oversight
- Assist in preparation and monitoring of annual operating budgets and capital improvement plans.
- Support census development, occupancy goals, and revenue optimization initiatives.
- Review operational expenditures and identify opportunities for improved efficiency and cost management.
- Participate in vendor management, contract oversight, and purchasing coordination.
Resident Experience & Community Relations
- Foster a positive, welcoming, and resident-centered environment.
- Maintain visibility throughout the community and develop strong relationships with residents and families.
- Participate in resident council meetings, family meetings, and community events.
- Assist in resolving resident concerns and service issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Promote resident satisfaction, engagement, and quality of life initiatives.
Staff Leadership & Development
- Assist in recruiting, onboarding, coaching, and retaining high-performing team members.
- Support department directors with employee relations, performance management, and staff development.
- Encourage a culture of teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and compassionate service.
- Participate in leadership meetings, employee recognition programs, and organizational training initiatives.
Strategic Planning & Organizational Growth
- Assist with implementation of strategic initiatives and organizational goals.
- Participate in marketing, outreach, fundraising, and community partnership activities as assigned.
- Support technology integration, process improvement, and operational streamlining efforts.
- Collaborate with leadership on long-term campus planning and service expansion initiatives.
Requirements
- Must pass state required physical, and TB test.
- Must be fingerprinted and free of conviction.
- Bachelor’s in Healthcare Administration or related field
- Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive leadership experience in senior living, healthcare administration, long-term care, or hospitality management.
- Current California Nursing Home Administrator License
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Must possess critical thinking skills and have the ability to make sound independent decisions.
- Entrepreneurial spirit and management style.
- Must be detail oriented and able to carry tasks through the end
- Enthusiasm toward resident care and service delivery excellence
- Comfortable operating Microsoft Office.
- Must be knowledgeable of nursing practices, procedures, terminology, laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care
