Dartmouth Health is pleased to announce a Chief Nursing Informatics Officer (CNIO) search.
This key system leader will serve as the authoritative voice for nursing informatics practice and strategy across the health system. The CNIO will identify opportunities for technological innovation and partner with Nursing Executive Leadership to align informatics strategy with practice models, standards, and goals.
About the job:
Reporting to the Chief Health Information Officer for Dartmouth Health, this position requires direct collaboration with nursing, medical, operational, quality, and technology leaders throughout the system. Daily activities focus on ensuring that clinical information systems, digital health capabilities, analytics, and emerging technologies support safe, high-quality, and equitable patient care while advancing the organization’s academic, research, and educational missions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing strategic direction for nursing informatics across all care settings, including inpatient, ambulatory, procedural, and home care.
- Connecting nursing interests with system clinical informatics governance, prioritization, and investment decisions.
- Nursing informatics stewardship of Epic design, optimization, and lifecycle management.
- Advancing the use of nursing analytics and data governance to support nurse-sensitive indicators, operational decision-making, and performance improvement.
- Enabling informatics education initiatives for nursing staff.

Minimum qualifications:
Qualified candidates must hold an active RN license as well as a master’s degree in Nursing, Informatics, Healthcare Administration or a related field. ANCC Board Certification in Nursing Informatics (RN-BC) is required.
A minimum of 8-10 years of leadership experience that include substantial responsibility for clinical informatics, Health IT strategy, or EHR oversight is required
A doctoral degree (DNP, PhD, or equivalent) as well as Epic EHR experience is strongly preferred.
Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance to Dartmouth Health’s headquarters in Lebanon, NH.
