Summary function: Coordinates and administers the evaluation and monitoring of Florida attorneys with diversion, probationary, or post-disciplinary requirements related to mental health and substance misuse disorders, selecting evaluators, including reviewing compliance documentation, tracking treatment and recovery requirements, and facilitating communication with attorneys, evaluators, treatment providers, and bar staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides clinical assistance and support in disciplinary and conditional admission cases involving mental health and substance abuse related conditions.
Processes formal referrals from the Florida Board of Bar Examiners (FBBE) and Lawyer Regulation and facilitates appropriate and approved evaluation and assessment.
Maintains detailed records of each respondent's participation, executes and manages monitoring agreements, and generates related reports and statistics.
Acts as liaison between bar staff, respondents, evaluators, volunteers, treatment facilities, and mental health professionals to ensure seamless care.
Informs the Division Director and/or Staff Counsel of any noncompliance issues and works with HQ staff on enforcement and prosecution of noncompliance.
Presents at Ethics School and Stress Management Workshop.
Provides objective testimony regarding a respondent's progress, compliance, and clinical prognosis. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of:
- Expert witness protocols, legal ethics, and the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar.
- Unique challenges faced by legal professionals as safety sensitive professionals.
- Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) and its application.
- Case management principles
Skilled in:
- Excellent legal and analytical communication, both oral and written
- MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat
- Database input
Ability to:

Requirements
Required minimum education: Minimum of a Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a closely related field.
Required minimum professional work experience: Five plus years of clinical experience, specifically in the treatment of substance use disorders and mental health conditions. Previous experience working with professionals or monitoring programs is highly preferred. Experience in the field of alcoholism/addiction/recovery and a working knowledge of substance use disorders and other mental health diagnoses is preferred.
Required licensure certification(s): Licensure in psychology, mental health, addiction counseling, social work or equivalent in good standing (e.g., LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, or Licensed Psychologist, Psychiatrist).
