Newport Hospital Vanderbilt Rehabilitation is actively hiring Registered Nurses for full-time nights. Known throughout the region for unique programs, excellent outcomes, and patient-focused care, The Vanderbilt Rehabilitation Center at Newport Hospital has been providing comprehensive acute rehabilitation services (with an average length of stay of 10-14 days) for decades. Under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager (or designee), the professional registered nurse serves as a patient advocate while applying the nursing process to deliver safe, high-quality, age-appropriate care in accordance with hospital policies and professional standards.
Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care; recognize and report deviations from patient conditions or established norms and initiate appropriate interventions
- Document nursing assessments, interventions, patient responses, and outcomes in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams to facilitate therapeutic interventions and achieve desired patient outcomes
- Identify and respond to emergency situations, including planning for potential needs and initiating appropriate interventions
- Develop, implement, and modify nursing care plans based on patient diagnoses, outcomes, and responses to treatment
- Promote patient and family engagement by providing education, comfort, and support to optimize functional outcomes and activities of daily living
- Maintain a safe environment while upholding quality assurance, infection control, and risk management standards
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, unit-based meetings, and ongoing training to maintain clinical competency
- Provide guidance and direction to LPNs, CNAs, and other personnel as needed; may assume charge nurse responsibilities, including patient and staff assignments
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; ASN required, BSN preferred
- Current Rhode Island RN license or RN licensure through the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) and current BLS certification (American Heart Association) required
- Demonstrated knowledge of professional nursing practice, the RI Nurse Practice Act, and the Code of Professional Nurses
- Ability to provide culturally competent, lifespan-based nursing care in a fast-paced acute care environment
